Ms Nozipho Nxumalo is a Project Coordinator – Teaching and Learning of Mathematics and Physical Sciences for ScienceCEO Academy. She possesses a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) incorporating Chemistry, Biochemistry, Plant and Animal Ecophysiology, Molecular Biology, Cytology and Cellular Biology. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Honours in Biological Sciences from UKZN specializing in Plant Biosystematics, Cellular Biology, Seed Biology, Plant Ecophysiology, Ecology. Furthermore, she obtained a Master’s degree in Biology from UKZN specializing in Cellular Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Light and Electron Microscopy, Phyto-Chemistry. All Postgraduate studies were funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) scholarship. In addition, she holds a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL/TESOL).
She has been working as a Scientist for the past 14 years. This has enabled her to contribute to the Science world, by sharing her expertise to tertiary students and learners in basic education. She has professional training in Basic Project Management, Microsoft Excel, Conflict resolution, Presentations, Science Research.
She started her career as a Laboratory Assistant at UKZN. She then got an opportunity for a NRF internship. She further worked as a Laboratory Demonstrator for 5 years. She got promoted to a Teaching Assistant supervising Laboratory Demonstrators for 6 years. An opportunity arose to be a Junior Lecturer at UKZN for 2 years. She joined ScienceCEO Academy in 2023.
Her key duties at ScienceCEO Academy are – STEM Projects Coordination; Leading Science Experiments; and Supervising Science Research Interns.
She has acquired prestigious skills over her career: Project Coordination, Office Administration, Teaching, Mentoring, Analytical and Critical thinking, Cellular Biology Quantitative and Qualitative Research Design and Study, Electron Microscopy, Public Speaking, Data Collection and Analysis, Statistical Analysis, and Scientific Writing.
