Professional Bio
Nozibusiso Gumede is the Chief Executive Officer of ScienceCEO Academy and an internationally recognised STEM advocate with over 23 years of professional experience spanning scientific research, innovation, education and leadership. She is an alumna of the prestigious USA Women in STEM Programme initiated by Hillary Clinton, supported by former President Barack Obama and administered by the USA Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Her career began at SA Bioproducts Pty Ltd as a Bioprocessing Technician, where she contributed to scientific research and received recognition for her outstanding work. She later served as an Industrial Microbiologist and subsequently joined initiatives under the Department of Science and Innovation and the Technology Innovation Agency, where she contributed to establishing scientific laboratories and strengthening innovation ecosystems.
Since joining ScienceCEO Academy full-time in 2016, she has led the organisation’s growth and impact. Under her leadership, more than 6,800 learners have been empowered, over 120 mathematics and science teachers have been developed and numerous school leavers have successfully pursued STEM qualifications and careers.
She is also a published co-author of the peer-reviewed article ‘International School Engagement with Health Scientists’ and is an enthusiastic advocate for Artificial Intelligence and digital transformation.
