Professional Bio

Dr Nkosana Jafta is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher in the Discipline of Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and serves as the Academic Leader of Research in the School of Nursing and Public Health. He teaches in both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and specialises in Environmental and Cancer Epidemiology.

His research focuses on environmental exposure assessment, environmental exposure modelling, and exposure and risk methodology. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented research at national and international conferences, and contributed a book chapter to conference proceedings.

Dr Jafta has successfully supervised and co-supervised Master’s and PhD students in environmental epidemiology, particularly in air pollution and cancer epidemiology. He collaborates with several local and international institutions, including the South African Medical Research Council, Gothenburg University in Sweden, and the University of Michigan in the United States.
